Think For Yourself: Get It With These Tips

In childhood we learn to define how we are and how the world works according to the ideas and words of our parents
think-for-yourself

It is common that, just born, our mother determines “how we are”.

Decide, for example, that we are calmer than our older brother, or vice versa. Or smarter, or more restless, or more athletes …

What the adult names (usually the mother) is usually a projection of himself in each child. We will say that he is whimsical or whiny, demanding, shy, hard-headed, funny or daring. It’s true? Well, it depends from what point of view we observe.

From childhood we are sponges for good and bad

In this way we grow. On the one hand we accumulate a number of pleasant, difficult, complex, harmonious, hostile or comfortable life experiences.

And by another lane go the “headlines”, named by the elderly. Worse still, many real experiences are not even named and therefore do not exist for consciousness.

An interesting exercise when we are adults is to ask ourselves each time we express an opinion: “Who said it?”

Normally it is difficult for us to recognize who said it, because we have the sensation of being the ones who say, feel, interpret or suffer.

People are not used to passing through the sieve of our perceptions the general opinions, on the contrary, we take them as our own and defend them as if we had something to do with them.

But … How do we know if we are able to think for ourselves? How to create autonomous thinking?

From my point of view, this process can only be started by honestly acknowledging the discourse that we have adopted during our childhood.

Forming our own criteria

For this, it is necessary to do regression work , make use of memories, allow our ingrained beliefs to fall, be willing to accept reality when there was lack of love, abuse, emotional deficiencies or abandonment.

And ask for help to rewrite our history, naming our experiences in our own words and giving them a place to exist.
